Just over my left shoulder was an area that my friend Will Morgan dubbed "Marmot Mountain". At one point during our trip we saw three or four up there checking us out. On this particular morning while Will was enjoying his beauty rest, I surprised a little fella. Here's what I do with a marmot that doesn't see you: 1. Clap loudly and keep walking towards it. 2. When marmot sees you and starts charging, turn around from where you came, and run. 3. Scoop up rocks and throw them behind you as you continue to run away. 4. After you realize the marmot never was really charging you, continue on your path, but make sure to pick up another rock or two in case the sequence repeats itself.
